Ellablanche Kezar Salmi was born in Warren, Minnesota, just forty miles south of the Canadian border, the artist was drawing at age five, and loving it.

Education: In California (since 1951) she belonged to the La Mesa Art Guild, and studied under Robert Landry. Later, when she enrolled in San Diego State University, she continued her interest in art by taking basic art classes. She graduated from SDSU with Distinction in English, and followed with an MA in creative writing. She enriched her major course of study by attending the University of London. Assuming a tenured position with Southwestern College, she retired from there with emeritus status in 1991.

Art: Since retiring, she has returned to the world of art.  Painting in oil, acrylic, or working with other medias, she has gone on to create some new things: Mixed Media Mosaics, and Textured Monoprints.

Writing: Her books of poetry are: Homeland, (2000), and Raindrops, (2003). Her novel Heartland (2008), as well as the poetry books are available through Barnes and Noble by special order. She is listed currently in:
