A Southern California native, I was born and raised in Pasadena, Calif. I developed my passion for art from my grandmother on my dad’s side of the family. As a child I would travel to Whidbey Island, Washington to visit my grandmother who was a professional watercolorist on the Island for many years. It was in my childhood years that my grandmother taught me everything I know about the medium. While I’ve developed other mediums through classes and instruction, she truly gave me the tools and guidance that have enabled me to be where I am today.

Watercolors speak to my natural abilities to imitate what I see. What inspires me is unique landscapes and scenery. While I’ve been going outside of my comfort zone and expanding my repertoire to most recently include animals and still life, a dramatic backdrop or sunset is really the motivation for me to put paint on paper. Having moved to the North San Diego area 13 years ago, living close to the beach gives me another shot of excitement and stimulation of creativity. I’m constantly taking scenery photos and trying to recreate those moments to share with those around me.
