Tea in the Garden by Cynthia A. Brenneman

“Tea in the Garden”
Watercolor 29″ x 22″

San Diego County painter, Cynthia Amon Brenneman has been involved in some form of art since she was a child. After graduation from Fallbrook High School, she went to Palomar Junior College and then to Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ to obtain her BA in Fine Art.

A career in the arts was delayed by 20 years for a career in the US Navy. As a navy line officer she lived in Florida, Europe, Virginia and California. Evening classes at UCSD, UCB, and San Dieguito rekindled her interest in the arts and led to the discovery of a love for watercolor painting. Summer school at the Royal College of Art in London changed her direction once again. An interest in mixed media resulted from her studies. More recently she started painting in Encaustics after studying with Marilyn Derwenkus.

Her discovery of the French “intimist” and Nabis artist, Edouard Vuillard and London based artist Kaffe Fassett have also influenced her personal style of painting and subject matter and once again a new medium, oil painting, has been added to her repertoire.

She has received awards in exhibitions throughout San Diego County. As a freelance greeting card artist her images have been reproduced by NRN Design of California and Renaissance Greeting Cards of Maine.
