Lily Silly Oil Painting by Jill Treadwell Svendsen

I like to capture the essence of a moment in time whether it is the beauty of a flower, the sun lighting a face, or the sound of water flowing through paint.   This fills my heart and mind with the beauty of God’s creation finding peace amidst chaos.

Creating something new and special excites me; be it a painting emerging from a white canvas, a sweater from a ball of yarn, or a cake from bags of flour and eggs.   Sharing my creations with others completes the circle – me giving something back.

Although oil painting is my preferred medium I am developing a love of the fast nature of watercolor and enjoying both mediums en plein air.   My subject matter is influenced by my love of nature, gardening, cooking, food and wine.  But color is my constant companion.

Jill is an award winning member of the San Diego Art Guild and exhibits her work at the Off Track Gallery in Encinitas, California.   She resides in North Coastal San Diego County with her husband, two sons and faithful dog, Merle.  She is diligent in improving her artistic skills by taking classes, workshops and participating in art collectives.
